Wanting to improve my Brazilian Portuguese by speaking more. I'm on an intermediate level in Portuguese, and actively learning through a couple of platforms. I speak Afrikaans (native) and English (fluent), and I am slowly learning French and Spanish since they're so close to Portuguese, and some German and Dutch since they're so close to Afrikaans. I'm married, have two grown up daughters, and I'm a computer programmer in my 50's and enjoy technical stuff and photography, and outdoors stuff, and language learning.

I love learning languages and am trying to immerse myself in languages as much as possible. Would love to connect with any people who want to practice speaking. I love learning about different cultures as well as cooking, so would love to also learn more about the food and culture when practicing a new language.

Who We Are Hello and welcome! We are the Alberts family from Port Edward, a beautiful coastal town on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Our family – Erik and Dee, along with our two daughters Kiara (16) and Cassy (12) – loves meeting new people, sharing our culture, and creating unforgettable experiences for our guests. We run a full English immersion homestay where students of all ages can live and learn in a safe, welcoming, and family-centered environment. Our home is spacious with a big garden, swimming pool, and is within walking distance of two beaches – the perfect place to relax and learn English in a natural setting. As part of our immersion program, students are not only taught English in daily lessons, but also practice it through real-life conversations, family meals, fun activities, and local excursions. From visiting Lake Eland and the Red Desert to exploring local markets, coffee farms, and adventure activities, every day is a chance to learn while having fun. With more than 26 years of experience in education, hospitality, and cultural exchange, we pride ourselves on creating a supportive, engaging environment where students feel at home while improving their English skills. We look forward to welcoming you to our home, sharing our South African lifestyle, and helping you build confidence in English – while making memories that last a lifetime. 🌍✨
