EspagnolI am a musician. I play the harp professionally at a restaurant and for weddings, etc., and at Celtic festivals, and the guitar for my own pleasure - I love classical and romantic Spanish guitar music! I hope to learn to play drums. I also studied piano seriously when I was younger. I live in the far north of Minnesota.
I am interested in world politics as well as American politics - I would say I am more or less a Libertarian who loves the American Constitution. I am also a writer and somewhat political commentator.
I am a widow with 3 grown-up children who are all great young people.
I love old houses, and live in one, antiques (have quite a few), enjoy music, film, books. My house is full of books and music. I also enjoy some art and my favorite painters include, among others, Degas and Manet. I love opera and Viennese operettas as well. I like Japanese art and music too.
I have always loved the Spanish language even before I began to learn it on my own as a child. Maybe because I loved Zorro!
I used to have my own dance studio where I taught ballet, tap and ballroom, but now just occasionally teach ballroom. Favorite dance - rumba! Followed by Tango and Viennese Waltz.
I enjoy film. I have been in several independent films, one where I had a principal role which was later part of an Asian film festival. An interesting experience I would like to try sometime again. I love silent movies and among my favorite movies are The Artist, The Concert, classics like Dr. Zhivago, The Maltese Falcon, some of Hitchcock's films, some Wes Anderson.
I am also interested in my own family history, which is deeply intertwined with American and Latin American history. One of my ancestors died in Brazil, attempting to found a colony for Huguenots. Some of them fought in the American Revolution.
I like Greek food, prefer red wine to white except I love Retsina, prefer dark chocolate to any other kind.
I love horses and dogs but currently have a very adorable cat. I enjoy riding my bike everywhere, the sound of fountains and love the scent of lilacs and lemons.
I want to improve my Spanish skills for better work opportunities and because some day I hope to be able to travel to Latin America and the Caribbean. Perhaps one day Spain. Write to me - I really want to practice Spanish!
