I am a native New Yorker, trying to learn Arabic, so I can better communicate and understand the Arab culture and world. I speak just a few words, but am a fast learner if I can find the right person to communicate with. I am very interested in the Palestinian conflict from a Palestinian perspective, and the broader Arab and Middle Eastern culture. I have also traveled to, and visited many Arab countries in the past.
In addition to all this, I love poetry.

My father's side of my family is from Taiwan, but I didn't grow up with him and never learned the language. I'm excited about learning Chinese and have a trip planned to Taiwan soon. I'm very new to the Chinese language, so bear with me, but I'm eager to learn more. I can, of course, help with conversational English and always happy to make new friends. Studied physics, into art, science, engineering, tinkering, deserts and forests, rock climbing, biking, food from all over the world, and a bunch of other things too! I'm a teacher of sorts; I put out an educational podcast designed for intermediate English Language learners who want to practice their listening skills and their pronunciation skills. It's about American Culture.

I live in Brooklyn, New York (Clinton Hill neighborhood), but I am from smaller cities in the middle of the United States. I have been to 47 of the 50 states. I live with my partner and dachshund-mixed dog.
I wish I could live in every country and city and rural zone in the world. I want to meet all of you and see your hometowns and eat what your family eats for months on end. Alas, what with capitalism being the economic system of the day, I need to have a full-time professional job and so can only visit a few countries a year. If I can visit locals, stay with locals and eat with locals, that's what I'll do.
If you're intellectually curious and philosophical about emotions and human nature, then we will get along famously. If not we will still learn a ton from each other so let's give it a try!
