Hi, my name is Joel Bean- I am a jazz musician as well as language learner, from the USA but moving to Poland in August 2024. I am extremely passionate about languages/culture and how it can help us to develop a much wider understanding of every aspect of life and help to build meaningful relationships with other people. With this in mind, my goal is to be able to take in the culture, language, and perspective of others with an open and curious mind, and to also be able to teach and share my own culture, language, and experience through history, music, philosophy, and other disciplines. I want to be able to foster a sense of "cultural counterpoint"; that is, the ability to see the same basic object via several lenses at once, something which can be a direct outcome of the language learning process. My German is at a C1 level, my Russian and Ukrainian are near a B1-B2, and I am just beginning with Polish. I would, in any case, like to refine all of the aforementioned languages to an extremely high level, and in particular be able to arrive in Poland with general conversational fluency. I speak both Spanish and Portuguese at around a B2 level, but am focusing a bit less on those due to work.

In regards to methodology/learning practices, I am looking for speakers who are familiar with Steve Kaufmann's/Stephen Krashen's method of exposure/input, and wish to focus much more on natural conversation rather than on grammar/speaking 100% correctly (although that is okay when writing)- I enjoy learning languages via reading/listening, and often use Lingq.

A couple of things: please be as detailed as possible, and correct any errors of mine, I am looking to gain a high level of fluency in all of the languages I am working on :)

Ich suche übringens jemanden, der mir beim Prüfungsvorbereitung helfen kann- da möchte ich irgendwann Mal nächstes Jahr eine Wochenende in Berlin verbringen, um die Goethe Prüfung zu machen und sie erfolgreich zu bestätigen.

Я хочу общаться на русском только с людьми, прощивающие на Западе, например, русско-говорящие люди из Украины или эмигранты в Европе. Из-за войны я не чувствую комфорта в общении с людьми, которые живут в России.
